Skin Biopsy

Skin Biopsy | Clarksville, TN

Post-Skin Biopsy Instructions, Cumberland Surgical Arts and Associates, PLLC

  • PainYou may have some discomfort as your surgery site is healing. If you have been given a pain medication prescription, take this medicine only as directed. You may alternate with ibuprofen if needed.
  • BleedingIf you experience any bleeding from the surgical site, apply firm pressure for 15 minutes. Please call your doctor if this does not stop the bleeding.
  • Infection Biopsy infections are rare. If you have been given a prescription for antibiotics, take them as directed until they are gone. Keeping that area clean (see biopsy care) will decrease the risk of infection. You should call your doctor if you detect any new swelling or drainage from your site.
  • Stitches (sutures)Stitches have been placed to keep the skin edges together as the area heals. In some cases, you will have stitches that will dissolve. In most cases, stitches will have to be removed. If necessary, your stitches will be removed five to seven days after they have been placed.

Cleaning Your Surgical Site

  • Soap and water - Two times per day, gently wash your site with a mild soap rinse and pat dry with a fresh towel.
  • PeroxideYour biopsy site may develop a crust. Two (2) times per day, gently cleanse areas of crusting with peroxide and a Q-tip. Crusts will bubble off. DO NOT PICK CRUSTS OFF as this may delay healing and leave a deeper and more noticeable scar.
  • Antibiotic OintmentFor the first week, after you clean the site, apply a thin coat of ointment to the surgical site. This will provide a more favorable condition after 24 hours and help the stitches to dissolve.
  • ShoweringYou may shower after 24 hours. Avoid direct water spray on the site for the first few days as this may be painful and may cause the wound to open.

Exceptionally high standards of dentistry

"I had gotten my wisdom teeth done by dr Lee and his team a few days ago and I can tell yall this is the man to go to. He answered all of my questions and got everything done right for me. As far as his team goes (Auttie, AP, Jessie, and destiny) they were absolutely amazing as well. They had answered all of my questions and were super nice to me when I was jacked up on anesthesia."
